If you have searched for a love spell online, you have probably encountered very different claims.

Some practitioners promise that a spell can make someone fall deeply in love, return within a few days, become obsessed, or behave exactly as you want. Others describe love spells as spiritual practices intended to create an environment for love, reconciliation, attraction, or relationship healing.

So, do love spells really work?

The honest answer is more complicated than a simple yes or no.

Love spells are part of various spiritual and cultural traditions, and people have different beliefs about their meaning and effectiveness. However, there is no reliable scientific evidence that love spells can control another person’s feelings, override their free will, or guarantee a particular romantic outcome.

At HerbalHealer, we believe it is important to respect traditional spiritual practices while also being honest about what they can and cannot promise.

Love magic is not a modern internet phenomenon. Historians have documented love-related magical practices in a number of cultures and periods. Research on ancient Greek and Roman magic, for example, describes different forms of erotic and relationship-related spells, while historical research has also documented practitioners offering magical services in later European societies.

Can a Love Spell Make Someone Love You?

This is one of the most common questions people ask.

There is no scientifically established method by which a spiritual ritual can reliably force another person to develop romantic feelings or behave against their wishes.

People may interpret changes in their circumstances after a spiritual practice in different ways. Someone might believe that a spiritual practice helped them find clarity, improve communication, or create an opportunity for reconciliation.

But that is different from proving that a ritual directly controlled another person’s emotions.

A responsible practitioner should therefore avoid promising that a particular person will definitely fall in love, return, marry you, or behave in a specific way.

There is an important difference between documenting that people have practised love magic and establishing that a ritual can reliably cause another person to fall in love.

Historical records can show that people believed in or practised love magic. They cannot, by themselves, demonstrate that the supernatural effects claimed for those practices have been scientifically established. Modern research into romantic relationships instead gives considerable attention to factors such as autonomy, expectations, communication and relationship behaviour.

What About Getting an Ex Back?

People often seek love spells after a painful breakup.

They may still love their former partner and hope for another opportunity.

Spiritual guidance may be sought as part of that process, but reconciliation involves two people.

There may be unresolved issues involving:

  • communication
  • trust
  • family interference
  • infidelity
  • misunderstandings
  • emotional distance
  • different expectations
  • circumstances surrounding the breakup

A spiritual practice cannot replace the conversations and decisions that may be necessary between the people involved.

Wanting reconciliation does not necessarily mean that reconciliation is possible or appropriate. A former partner has their own feelings, circumstances, and choices. Research on romantic relationships has found that autonomy within relationships is associated with how partners respond to conflict and with relationship satisfaction.

For this reason, HerbalHealer approaches reconciliation by first understanding the circumstances rather than promising that an ex-partner will return.

Love Spells and Free Will

Free will is an important consideration when discussing love spells.

There is a significant difference between seeking guidance for your own emotional life and attempting to control another person’s choices.

At HerbalHealer, spiritual guidance should not be about:

  • controlling someone’s mind
  • creating obsession
  • forcing someone to fall in love
  • preventing someone from leaving
  • removing someone’s ability to make their own decisions
  • manipulating someone into a relationship

Carlos Mukuru believes that people should retain the ability to make their own choices.

This is also why HerbalHealer does not offer guarantees that another person will behave in a particular way.

Free will is not simply an abstract philosophical question when relationships are involved. Romantic relationships involve two people, each with their own preferences, boundaries and decisions.

Research on self-determination in romantic relationships has linked autonomy with openness, perspective-taking, and support for close partners. Other research has found associations between relationship autonomy and satisfaction.

For that reason, HerbalHealer does not promote spiritual work as a way to guarantee control over another person’s mind, remove their ability to choose, or force them to remain in a relationship.

Why Do Some People Believe Love Spells Worked?

People can have powerful personal experiences after seeking spiritual guidance.

Sometimes circumstances change after a person performs a ritual or consults a practitioner. A relationship may improve, communication may resume, or someone may meet a new partner.

There can be many possible explanations.

For example, a person may become more confident, communicate differently, make different decisions, or approach a relationship with a new perspective.

Someone who already believes strongly in spiritual practices may interpret those changes through that spiritual framework.

These personal experiences can be meaningful to the people involved, but they should not automatically be presented as scientific proof that a particular ritual caused the outcome.

People can interpret changes in their lives through the beliefs and expectations they already hold. Research into expectation effects has found that expectations can influence how people experience and report outcomes in some contexts, although the evidence is complex and varies by situation.

In relationships, circumstances can also change independently of a ritual. A couple may begin communicating differently, one partner may reconsider a decision, contact may resume naturally, or a person’s own behaviour and confidence may change.

When several things happen at once, it can be difficult to determine exactly what caused the eventual outcome.

What Should You Expect From a Responsible Practitioner?

Be cautious when a practitioner makes absolute promises.

Warning signs include claims such as:

“Guaranteed results.”

“Your ex will return in 24 hours.”

“I can make anyone obsessed with you.”

“I control their mind.”

“Guaranteed marriage.”

“Pay more and I guarantee success.”

No practitioner can honestly know with certainty how another person will think, feel or behave in the future.

A responsible practitioner should be willing to explain:

  • what the service involves
  • what it is intended to address
  • what it cannot guarantee
  • how much it costs
  • who performs the work
  • what happens during the consultation
  • when another type of professional support may be more appropriate

How Carlos Mukuru Approaches Love-Related Spiritual Work

Carlos Mukuru’s approach begins with listening.

Before recommending spiritual work, he wants to understand what the person is experiencing, what they hope to achieve, and what has happened in the relationship.

He then considers whether he can genuinely assist.

If he believes he cannot help, he is prepared to say so rather than promise something simply because a client is willing to pay.

When he accepts a case, Carlos personally performs the spiritual work rather than passing it to an unknown third party.

This consultation-led approach is central to HerbalHealer’s commitment to transparency.

Spiritual Practice and Practical Action Can Coexist

Seeking spiritual guidance does not necessarily mean ignoring practical steps.

Depending on the circumstances, someone experiencing relationship difficulties may also need to:

  • have an honest conversation
  • establish healthy boundaries
  • rebuild trust
  • address communication problems
  • take responsibility for mistakes
  • allow another person space
  • accept that a relationship may have ended
  • seek counselling or other professional support

Spiritual practice can be part of someone’s personal or cultural approach to a difficult situation, but it should not prevent them from taking sensible practical steps.

A person can value spiritual practice while also taking practical steps in their relationship.

For example, someone seeking reconciliation might also need to communicate honestly, acknowledge mistakes, establish boundaries, or decide whether continuing the relationship is actually healthy.

The American Psychological Association notes that communication is an important part of maintaining healthy relationships.

So, Do Love Spells Really Work?

There is no scientifically established evidence that love spells can reliably control another person’s emotions or guarantee a particular romantic outcome.

At the same time, love spells and related spiritual practices have a place in various cultural and spiritual traditions, and people may attach personal meaning to them.

The most honest approach is to recognize the distinction between spiritual belief, personal experience, and scientific evidence.

If you are considering spiritual guidance for love or relationships, look for a practitioner who is transparent about the process, respects personal choice, and does not promise impossible results.

Carlos Mukuru approaches love-related spiritual work through his own Ugandan family tradition. He learned from his grandfather from a young age and has practised full-time for about 20 years.

His consultation process begins by listening to the person’s situation and understanding what they want. He then considers whether he genuinely believes he can help.

If he accepts the case, he personally performs the spiritual work.

He does not promise that a particular person will return, become obsessed, fall in love or behave in a predetermined way.

Traditional spiritual practices should also be distinguished from evidence-based medical treatment. The World Health Organization’s current traditional medicine strategy emphasizes the importance of evidence, safety, quality, and appropriate regulation when traditional medicine is considered within health systems.
